Reuse some old gift boxes and make your own flower bouquet box
I am always collecting tea sets and these tea sets always come in the prettiest of boxes. I hate to throw these in the bin so I decided to reuse them and turn them into pretty flower display boxes. You might have seen these pretty flower boxes on Instagram or Pinterest. They are really popular but they can be really expensive to buy from the florists. In today’s post, I am going to show you how to make both bouquet boxes using both real and faux flowers. These were much easier to make than I expected. I also used some real flowers from Aldi which kept the costs down. I also have a Youtube video which will give you a better idea of how I made these flower boxes. These are really quick make and you would easily make these in an afternoon.
What you will need
– Hat boxes, old teacup boxes or any pretty box of your choice.
– Polystyrene for faux flowers and oasis for real flowers.
– A wire cutter if you are using faux flowers.
– Faux flowers or real bunches of flowers depending on which box you make. I got my faux flowers in Dunnes Stores and my real ones from Aldi, I used two bunches.
– Some plastic for your real flower arrangement.
– Ribbon to decorate your boxes.
When making the faux flower box I simply cut some polystyrene to size and inserted it into the hat box. I then cut each faux flower to the desired size using my wire cutters. Faux flowers normally have wire inside them so make sure to be extra careful when cutting them. I inserted them into the polystyrene and packed them in tightly. Once I was happy with how they looked I then added some ribbon to the front of the box.
When making the real flower boxes I lined each box with some plastic. I used a clear plastic bag and cut it to size. Make sure you have no holes in your plastic as you do not want your box to get water damaged. I soaked the oasis in the sink so it would absorb lots of water. I then placed the oasis inside the boxes and added my flowers. You can have fun using different types of flowers and get creative with your flower displays. Now, I am no florist but I got some fresh flower bouquets from Aldi and added them in, I just cut the stems to size. I just experimented with adding them into the box and arranged them until I was happy with how they looked. I then added a ribbon in a matching colour to the outside of the box.
These flower boxes make amazing presents and you can save your pennies and reuse an old hat box that you might already have. For the cost of some oasis and flowers, you can make a really expensive looking flower display and gift it to someone. Whether you choose to make a real or faux display these look fab in the home and not to mention! They are very Instagrammable.
