DIY Clay Christmas Ornaments

Make your own personalised Christmas ornaments

I had so much fun making my previous DIY using air-dry clay that I decided to use it again and make some Christmas ornaments. These are really easy to make and you can have fun putting your own stamp on these. I also used a stamping kit to personalise mine too. I put together a DIY video sharing how I made these but I will also include the steps below.

What you will need

– Air dry clay, a straw

– Silicone moulds or cookie cutters

– Some chalk paint or acrylic paints to decorate

– Ribbon or string to hang them

I warmed up some air dry clay in the palms of my hands. I then used my Christmas shaped moulds and I pushed the clay into the mould. I then gently peeled out the clay and I was left with my Christmas shaped clay ornaments. I then used a straw to add a perfectly round hole. I will use this hole to add my string so I can hang them on my tree. I used a stamping kit that I got in Sostrene Grene to add my Niece and Nephew’s name to the clay.

I allowed my clay to dry overnight. Once my clay was dry I used some paints from my craft kit and I decorated them. You can have lots of fun with this and put your own stamp on your ornaments. I gave my ornaments a coat of clear varnish to give them a sheen. I then added some string to them and knotted them tightly so they wouldn’t fall off the tree.

I added my ornaments to my tree and I also added some to a garland. This is a really fun project to do with kids. You could make them one day and then decorate them the next day once the cay has dried. You can also pick up silicon cake moulds in the likes of the pound shop and online of the likes of Amazon and eBay.

I hope you have fun making these. You can catch my DIY video here as well as below. Please do share this DIY with people who you think will enjoy making these.
