Upcycled Milk Carton DIY

I have been rummaging in the trash again! Today I am sharing an upcycled milk carton DIY tutorial and showing you how I recycled them into cute fabric lined storage baskets. This is a really simple DIY and you can get really creative with your fabric choices and how you style it. I have put together a video tutorial to show you how I made my mini storage baskets from the milk cartons.

You don’t need much for this DIY. I simply measured out my carton and evenly cut the top part off using a sharp blade. Don’t worry if you do not have a blade as you can carefully use your scissors to cut the carton. I then used my glue gun to apply some lollipop sticks to the outside of the carton. I picked my lollipop sticks up in Mr Price. They were only €1.49 a packet and I used my glue gun to evenly glue them to the outside of the carton. You could use craft glue if you do not have a glue gun. I decided to paint my baskets white so I just applied one coat of acrylic paint to the wooden sticks and allowed them to dry.

I decided to make a fabric lining for my baskets. It is kind of hard to explain how I made the fabric basket but I have a demo in the video at the end of the post that shows how I made the lining. I basically followed the dimensions of the carton and added half an inch for a seam allowance. I hope you can get a gist for how I made them in the video as I tried to explain it the best I could. You don’t need a lot of fabric for the lining so you could use up some of the scrap fabric that you have in your fabric stash.
