Beauty DIYs, Pillow Spray, Hand Balm And More

Are you bored with lockdown baking? Do you fancy making something other than banana bread? Well, I have some beauty DIYs in this week’s YouTube video that I think you will enjoy making. In this week’s video, I share how to make your very own relaxing pillow spray. How to make a soothing hand balm by using beeswax, shea and coconut butter. I share how to make some alcohol hand sanitiser and how to make some lavender and lemon balm hand soap. These beauty DIYs make really nice gifts too!

DIY Hand Balm

Have your hands become really dry and chapped from all of the extra hand washing? Why not make your very own soothing hand balm. I was able to purchase the ingredients from my local health food store. For this DIY you will need some beeswax, shea butter, coconut butter, sweet almond oil and some essential oils.

DIY Hand Balm

Simply melt the beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler. I make my own double boiler by placing a glass bowl over a pot of simmering water. Once melted you can add in your sweet almond oil. Remove from the heat and allow to sit for 2-3 minutes and stir in your essential oils. Use a funnel to pour into containers and allow to set overnight. You can reuse old glass jars or containers from used beauty products.

I was able to purchase my supplies from my local health food shop that remains open at this time. You can also pick these up online from Amazon.

DIY Pillow Spray

I do love a pillow spray, however, they can be really expensive. Why not use some of your essential oils and make your very own sleep spray. You can get really creative with your blends. I will pop below a recipe but do get creative and use your own mixtures. I reused an old glass spray bottle that I had. Make sure to sue with hazel or alcohol in your spray bottle as this helps the oils mix with the distilled water. Give your pillow spray a good shake before spraying on your pillow before bed.

DIY Alcohol Hand Sanitiser

Have you run out of hand sanitiser? Why not make your own. Although it is great to have a bottle of hand sanitiser in your bag, it is much more effective to wash your hands for 20 seconds or more. Please do not rely on hand sanitiser alone. However, it is handy to have in your bag for times when you cannot easily wash your hands. I used an old travel-sized bottle to store my hand sanitiser in. I will pop the ingredients below. Simply add to your bottle and shake. Make sure to shake before use. You can purchase Isopropyl alcohol ( rubbing alcohol) from most pharmacies.

How To Make Soap

You may have seen me make soap before on the blog. I love using melt and pour soap bases to create my own soaps. You can check out this post where I made some rose-scented soaps. You can purchase a melt and pour base from Amazon, here is a link to the exact one I used. I simply melted my soap base in my double boiler. Once melted I removed from the heat and added in my essential oils. I then poured my soap mixture into my soap moulds. I allowed them to set overnight but you can pop them into the fridge to set quicker.

HI Tammy, make sure to get coconut oil and not butter. You will be able to get coconut oil in your local supermarket. Thanks for reading.
