Decluttering my workspace
There is something about January that makes you want to get your act together and get things in order. Over the bust Christmas period, I kept dumping things into my office and slowly my work table began to disappear under all of the craft supplies and projects I had been working on. My craft room wasn’t working for me for a while now. I didn’t have my space organised to suit my needs and things would fall out when I would open a drawer. I put together a video sharing how I tackled my office from start to finish which you can see here.
One of the biggest things that helped me was changing up my Ikea Kallax unit. I added four open front drawers and I added two drawer inserts to better organise my stuff. I find I prefer to have my items tucked away and out of sight. If I have too many craft or work items out on display I feel cluttered and can’t concentrate. I like to have my room feeling calm. My workspace has to accommodate my different hobbies. I needed a dedicated space for my sewing items, a space for my furniture paints and a space for my photography equipment.
I also added the Ikea pegboard to my workspace. I used the different hooks available to add the items that I needed the most. I have my fabric scissors on here as well as some of my paint brushes. I drilled my pegboard to my wall but I did notice there was a wall hanging kit in Ikea, so, if you are a renter and cannot drill then check out that kit.
I organised all of my different crafts together. So, I grouped all of my sewing items together and I organised them into my wardrobe. I then grouped together my tools and paints and I gave them their own space. I put items of similar size together. The drawers of the Kallax unit made it easy to store the like of my smaller tools and smaller photography items. I found I didn’t have to throw out too many items as once I organised my space better I had the room to store my items.
If you want to see what my office looked like before then check out my video below and you can see how chaotic it was before I decided to tackle it. I hope you got a bit of inspiration from today’s post and do let me know if you plan on decluttering any of your spaces in your home this January. I have a few other unorganised areas of my home that need to be tackled so keep your eyes peeled for them posts.

Ahhh nothing better than a nicely organized craft room. Yours looks amazing!! I've definitely spent the first week of this new year de-cluttering like crazy.
