My decoupaged dresser

Hi everyone.

You will have seen from my instagram that I am in the middle of doing up my master bedroom.

It’s a bit of a slow process as I’m trying to get it done in the evenings after work.

I want to share with you some pictures of a chest of drawers I have just finished upcycling.

Now I know this won’t be to everyone’s taste as its quite floral but the themes of my bedroom is for it to be like a french hotel bedroom.

So I’m looking for pieces of furniture with queen ann legs or something shapely and different.

So here is a before pic. This had beaufiful wood however it was very worn and also  had some old woodworm holes that needed to be treated.

I got this piece off a local buy and sell facebook site.

I used vintage paint by autentico in the shade antique white.

This is a gorgeous cream shade and sits well with the bed I upcycled recently.

I got napkins off the lovely Liz from decoupage.ie, I used two paper napkins on this piece.

Liz runs workshops and how to decoupage if you are in the Dublin area you should definitely check her out.

I had an idea in my head and had some inspo from Pinterest so used all the pink roses from the napkins.

At first I didn’t know how much decoupage I was going to do so I just started on the legs and then added to the middle and top.

Sometimes it’s easy to go overboard and do too much so I start off with small sections and build up.

My fave part of this piece is the legs.

What I like about old furniture is that they are smaller and not as bulky as modern furniture. I find new furniture to be really big and you’d almost need a mansion to fit some of the pieces in your homes.

My room upstairs is a dormer room so we have sloped ceilings so these pieces are the perfect height and not too bulky.

Here is a progress pic of my room so far.

It lacks natural sunlight so I went for cotton white laura Ashley paint on the walls and the stripe wallpaper on back wall to reflect the light.

I got a really good bargain in laura Ashley as I wouldn’t normally be able to afford to shop there.

I’m hoping to get a big fancy sparkly light fitting for the room but I will wait until the end and see how much money I have saved and splurge on a fancy chandelier.
