Living room update | AD

My new DFS sofas arrived

It feels like Christmas has come early! I am writing this blog post from my new sofas which arrived this week. You might remember a few weeks ago I chatted about all things sofas with DFS. You can catch the post here. I had been wanting to upgrade my old second-hand sofas for ages, they were oversized for my living room and the time had come to change them. I put together a Youtube video showing the new sofas in my living room and I am thrilled with them. I now have so much more space and my new sofas fit in perfectly with my decor. If you are thinking of upgrading your new sofas and don’t know where to start then check out my video I made with Lisa from DFS where we went into detail and shared some tips for picking the perfect sofa.

Being bold with colour and pattern

When I was choosing my sofas I almost played it safe. I was nervous to be bold but I am so glad I settled on the pink Joules Cambridge two-seater. I knew instantly when the guys unwrapped it that I had made the right choice. It is such a vibrant colour and matches my living room decor perfectly. The great thing about the Joules Cambridge range is that you can flip the cushions to remove the floral print. So, if you get bored of the floral print then you can simply flip the cushions and you have a plain sofa. I chose the velvet fabric for my sofas and footstool. They also come in a cotton fabric but I settled on the velvet as it feels really luxurious. There are loads of options in the Cambridge range, from four-seaters to armchairs and matching cushions there is something for every budget.

As I have a small space between my china cabinet and door, I chose the Joules Cambridge cuddler. I keep calling this a love seat. It is slightly bigger than an armchair but smaller than the two seater sofa. The cuddler also has nice petite arms and it sits neatly in the room. I can also open the china cabinet door which I couldn’t do with my old sofa. An important thing to consider when buying a sofa is making sure it fits in your space. You want to be able to easily move around your chairs and to make sure it doesn’t block doors or windows.

Put your feet up

I also went for the Cambridge velvet compact storage footstool. I can’t believe I have waited so long to have a footstool. This doubles up as storage which is really handy if you have a small living room like myself. It has the matching floral print on the inside when you lift it up. It is also nice and lightweight making it easy to move around the room. This foorstool also comes in a larger size and you can choose between the velvet fabric and the cotton.

I am really impressed with the attention to detail in these sofas. From the legs to the hinges on the footstool, everything is finished to a really high standard. So far they are easy to maintain. I have the foam filled seat cushions so I have just been giving them a plumping when I am finished lounging on them.

I hope you found this post useful. Don’t forget to check out my previous post where I have lots of sofa buying tips to help you on your buying journey. I will also link to the Youtube videos below where you can have a better look at the sofas in my home.

I love your new sofas, the colours are absolutely stunning and I really like the way you can flip the floral cushions over for a more subtle finish – beautiful x

Are they comfortable and have the flowers faded over time?
    Thanks

Hi Rachel, Yes, they are comfy, if I was to buy them again, I would get a firmer filling. I chose the soft filling and I have to plump them more often. Soft fill is comfier but they don’t hold the shape as good as firm fill. Flowers haven’t faded either, and I wipe often as I have cats. I hope this helps.
