Homeware haul time
It has been ages since I had a good ramble around the shops. I won’t lie, I am not a fan of wandering the shops, I think it is because I work in retail that it kills me to spend my spare time traipsing around busy shops. I have been working on my bathroom the past few weeks and I was lacking inspiration. When I get stuck for interior inspiration I like to visit some homeware shops and get ideas from their displays. I was also looking for some new trinkets for the bathroom so I went to my old reliable shops that are Homesense and Ikea. In today’s post, I will share what I picked up and I also have a Youtube video which I will link below.
Ikea
I was looking for some shelves for my bathroom so I headed to Ikea, I didn’t find any shelves but I did find a towel hook, faux flowers, a succulent and some towel. A very random combo!
You will notice I picked up the black Svartsjon hook but I decided to give it a quick makeover. I used some Rust-Oleum primer and bright gold spray paint that I had in my kit from previous Diy’s to give it a new colour. This hook was only €5 and it was easy to mount on the back of my bathroom door. Just bear in mind that it does not come with screws.
I cannot walk through the plant section of Ikea without getting something! Hands up if you are the same. You might remember my previous post where I planted succulents into tea tins. Well, the Succulents that I got in Ikea a few months are are thriving and I even propagated a few too. I picked up this plant for €2.50 and I also got this Fridfull wicker basket effect pot. The flower pot was a steal at only €4. I also picked up a set of three faux flower post. I love these but I will paint the black pots to tie in with the colours I have for my bathroom. I think I will paint them in light pink and sage green.
I wanted to get more towels for my bathroom and loved the shade of pink of these Ikea towels. They are really good value but I will say that they do feel a bit cheap but, I suppose, you get what you pay for. They do wash well but they are just lacking that hotel fluffy towel feels. Perfect for everyday use and they do wash well.
Homesense
I am certainly a lot poorer in the pocket since HomeSense opened in Blanchardstown. I actually go in with cash and leave my card in the car so I won’t overspend. I got some really cute trinkets for the bathroom. I took two trips to HomeSense and I was able to find the matching items on my second trip. I picked up this cute apothecary jar on my first trip and I was delighted to see that they had the matching little glass holder the second time I went in. I also picked up this ceramic pump bottle and matching toothbrush holder. They have a tiny hint of pink which contrasts nicely with the colours of my bathroom. These trinkets ranged €6.99 and the dearest was €16.99.
I also picked up a set of teacup tea towels for €6.99. You will see in my Youtube video that I picked these up as I want to upcycle them. I love the fabric and print of them and I think I will use them to sew into a bag or cushion.
When I was in Homesense I noticed that they have some Royal Albert. I was able to pick up this new country rose jug for €8. This is an absolute steal! They also had some of the new Country Rose mugs when I visited the second time. So, my teacup lovers keep your eyes peeled.
I love vintage style tins. I picked up this first aid plaster tin for €2.99 in Homesense and the blush tea tin was from Sostrene Grene. I am going to use the blush tea tin as a pot for the succulents that I have propagated. Slowly my window sill is filling up with more and more succulents.
That is all my loot for today guys. Do let me know which items are your favourite and check out my Youtube video to get a better look at my loot. Please subscribe to my channel and give it a thumbs up if you enjoy the video. You can also catch me over on my Instagram where I share daily.
