IKEA shabby step stool makeover.

Hiya!

Hope your all having a fab weekend!

Today I just want to share some pics of this Ikea stool that I picked up.

As much as I give out about having to go to Ikea they do have fantastic items that you can paint and upcycle.

This was a really quick project and I think it took me longer to assemble than it did to paint.

For anybody going to chalk paint classes this autumn then this would be a great piece to bring.

As usual I got too excited to paint and forgot to take a before pic.

You can find the details for this stool here.

A tip if you are heading to the Dublin store, this is located in aisle 5 location 41 not location 31 that is on the display stool on the showroom.

Which at first I thought it was out of stock but found it when i wandered further down.

Assembly is actually quite simple and if I can do it then so can you!

However it may put you in a bad mood and your kitchen may look like a bomb just went off if your anything like me.

I used Autentico in the shade frozen fountain. I am still using the same liter pot of paint that I used on the upvc door and on my toilet door.

For anyone who missed it you can find my tutorial on painting upvc here.

This shade gives great coverage so you use less so the tin is lasting me forever!!.

I just gave two light coats of paint and got the coverage I wanted.

You could get really crafty and do decoupage or effects with colored waxes but as this was for displaying items I went with a block color.

For me I wanted the step stool for display, I think it would be so pretty dressed up for a wedding or a tea party. You can see from the pic below that its really handy and folds and comes with a clip so it can be hung on the wall.

I wanted it to display my frames as they were piling up in the kitchen and wanted them to look pretty for when people dropped by to collect them.

This little ladder would be gorgeous for displaying at a market for any of my fellow crafter’s.

It would look very cute with some cupcake stands on it.

Let me know what you think and if you have gotten creative with any of your Ikea finds.

Don’t forget to leave the link to your blog in the comments section.

Thanks for stopping by,

Catherine.

This looks beautiful. I was thinking of getting a step ladder the other day so may get this one and paint it! I need to sell my house and buy my new house first so it will be a while away yet!
