Dainty's diner…. A progress update.

Hi everyone.

So this is what I have been getting up to this week.

The kitchen really is the heart of the home and a room were I spend a lot of time (not cooking) lol.

So mine is not as cosy as I would like so I am transforming it.

The table set is my first start and then I am going to be painting my cabinets and fingers crossed I will have a shabby chic country kitchen,

The first thing I have started with is this old round pine table and four violin back chairs.

The plan for the table is to sand back the top to its original wood and to do a whitewash effect on the table top or leave it as is and just varnish.

I have yet to decide but I do want to keep the wood showing as I love the pattern in the grain and think it’s really rustic and like something you’d see in a country farmhouse.

I got this table for a steal at only €50 off a second hand site.

I will paint the base in same shade as the chairs to tie the dining set together.

I chose a round table as my kitchen is on the smaller side and the round table takes up less space and will look great when painted in the light colour as this will make room look bigger.

I painted the chairs in dulux satinwood in the shade antique cream.

I like to try different paints and I decided to try the dulux satinwood paint.

I gave a light sand and clean with sugar soap before giving a coat of primer.

I used zinnser primer and then it took three coats of the antique cream to get full coverage.

I did put one coat or varnish over these chairs as its for the kitchen and gets a lot of traffic, I used ronseal clear satin varnish.

Now the fun part!

Ribbons, ribbons, ribbons!!

Oh yes.

I like to change up the decor and colours in rooms and if you pick a neutral colour it’s really simple to add your colours.

As its autumn I went with a red theme.

I got these ribbons from dunnes stores and the tie back cushion is also from dunnes and priced at €8.

For spring I will change it up and simply replace the ribbons and cushion with a summer colour and il have a whole new look.

I will keep you posted on my progress.
