Hi everyone!
So I finally had a day off to paint this TV stand that I picked up at a steal for €20! It was sitting in my kitchen staring at me as iv been kept busy with work but I made the time to get this piece finished.
The cat likes to help sometimes!
I recently done a class with dollydaydream in artane which I mentioned in my previous post and I have been practising decoupage which is way more trickier than I imagined.
I practised decoupage on these ikea lanterns that were quite plain.
Now back to the TV stand!
So I had enough left in my pot of Annie Sloan cream and used this so it would match my other pieces in the room.
As this was mahogany it needed three coats but the first two coats I added a little water.
I do like distressing pieces but still mastering it and for my living room I wanted a block colour. Il experiment with wax and distressing on something smaller.
This was it after two coats before a little sanding and then the last coat.
Taa daa! The finished article! I kept the oringinal hardware instead of painting it to make it look a but more luxurious and less of the classic shabby look.
Now the napkins i used for decoupage are the same ones I used to practise on my ikea lanterns.
They were €2.50 from dunnes stores and I still have loads left.
I just cuts out the flower with a scissors and then used a mixture of pva and water to stick on then seal.
So now I have to go clean up the lovely mess I made! Am I the only one who is so messy when it comes to crafts.
Also just a quick update and little Blondie.
For anyone who follows on Instagram you would of seen I got a little rescue cat that was found on the side of the road.
We’ll she is doing great and is recovering after being neutered and she has also gotten her first batch of vaccinations.
Still a little on the skinny side but she is doing much better than when I first got her!
