Master Bedroom Tour | Video

A look around my master bedroom

Hi everyone, I have had a few requests for a master bedroom tour video and I have finally put one together. I still have some pieces of furniture in the room that I want to paint and upcycle but overall I am happy with how my room is looking at the moment. I will make sure to leave the Youtube video below and link it here for you to check out. I also have a house tour playlist on my Youtube channel where you can check out my other rooms.

This year I finally got a window added to the room. One of the main reasons I didn’t spend time in my master was because of the lack of sunlight. I am one of those people that get so much energy from light. I sourced a builder online and I finally got a Velux window added to the ceiling. My home is a dormer bungalow and my master is upstairs. It has the slanted ceilings and it is at a funny angle so the light doesn’t get into it but since adding the window this has fixed the problem.

Just like the rest of my home, most of the furniture in the room is second hand and I have painted it to suit my decor. I have yet to tackle my blanket box and I also have a mahogany unit that I want to paint. Let me know what colour you think I should paint it? I was able to get my bedframe online for €50. I then painted it and added some mouldings to make it look more shabby chic. I was then able to spend the money I had saved on a really good mattress. I like to save money on furniture and spend it on other things in the house. I find the likes of adverts.ie and donedeal.ie great for getting cheap second-hand pieces. I also find local Facebook buy and sell pages fantastic for getting bargains.

One of my favourite paint jobs to date has to be my pink love seat. I got this chair for free over four years ago and I had no budget to upholster it. I decided to chalk paint it, using wax and chalk paint I gave it a makeover and the colour just fits in perfectly with my decor! Pink chairs are really popular at the moment. Although, I will admit that Blondie gets the most use out of the pink chair.

When it comes to the paint and wallpaper I kept everything bright and reflective to make the room look bigger and brighter. The wallpaper I have in the room is the Lile wallpaper by Laura Ashley and I also have the walls painted in cotton by Laura Ashley. This makes the room nice and bright and I also have some of the Lile stripe wallpaper in the hallway. By keeping the walls neutral I can play around with colour through my accessories. Whenever I get bored I can easily change my bedding and trinkets and it gives the room a new feel. The bedding I am using at the moment is from Christy.co.uk.

I hope you enjoyed the pics of my master bedroom, its taken me ages to get it to a stage where I am content with it. Please check out my Youtube video below where you can have a better look around the room. Don’t forget to subscribe and share my video if you enjoyed it. Let me know what piece is your favourite. Excellent – love your decorating style and how brave you are to try new techniques. If you paint mahogany do some research on it bleeding through – I refinished a bookcase years ago and even though II sealed it like pine knots – it kept bleeding through and the bottom of books looked pink.
