Mini homeware haul and Decor update

Mini Haul

Hi everyone, I have a few homeware and stationary pieces to share in today’s post. The house was feeling a little bare after taking all of the Christmas decorations down so I wanted to get a few pieces to add a bit of colour back into the house. I have a few items today, from candles to faux flowers that are making the house feel more homely in January. Winter is long! and I find January and February can be a bit dreary, as we wait for Spring to arrive. I also have a Youtube video sharing today’s pieces and a mini house tour of how the house is looking after Christmas. I will link to the video at the end of the post.

Faux Flowers

Those of you who have watched any of my room tours on Youtube will know that I am a bit of a faux flower lover. As my house lacks natural sunlight I find real flowers can die easily in the house. I tend to keep a real bunch of flowers in the kitchen and then in the other rooms, I love to use faux flowers to add some colour to the room. I treated myself to two new sets of flowers from Dunnes Stores. The first set in the picture above was €40 ( although I did use my Mam’s staff discount which made it cheaper ), These also come in a really pretty white vase.

The second set was much cheaper at €10. I loved the colour of these. I got a new bedding set which I will share below and these flowers picked up the colours perfectly. I am going to pop this set on the bedside locker to add a pop of pink to compliment the bedding. Both of these sets are from Dunnes Stores and you can find them here

New Bedding

Around Christmas time I really wanted a treat of some new bed sheets. Last year I had a really festive Christmas set but I decided to get a set that I could use all year long instead of just December. When in London at the Amara awards I got chatting to the ladies from Christy’s and I had a peek on their website. I fell in love with the pink Harlow bed linen. As my room is really neutral a pop of print makes the room feel like I have redecorated it. I also have the Jaipur cushion too. One of my favourite things to do in Winter is to wash my bed sheets with loads of Lavender fabric softener and climb into bed in fresh pyjamas and sheets.

New Candles

Over Christmas, I had received some press samples of candles in the post. I put two of them aside to burn in the new year. I love a new scent in the house. The two I am loving at the moment is the Field day Ireland candle in the scent Winter and the Max Benjamin candle and diffuser in the scent Acquia Viva. What I like about these two brands is that they are both handmade in Ireland. I have been burning the Winter candle in my hallway and I love how the smell lingers long after you have blown it out. I popped the max Benjamin diffuser in my living room as it smells more like a perfume. I love how the diffuser gives a nice scent that isn’t too over powering. The packaging is really pretty too.

Stationary

I love a new fresh planner for the new year. I got sent over one of the 2018 planners from Irish brand Leanun.ie, What I love the most about this planner is that it is geared towards achieving your goals. There is a section at the start of the month to set your plans and goals, then each day I love that it has a section to write in what you are thankful for each day. It also has a section for your daily to-do list. If you watch my video below you can have a better look at the pages of the diary.

Last week, I got some goodies sent over from Homesense. In the package was some gorgeous stationary pieces. When it comes to getting creative and drafting ideas I need a blank notepad. I got a gorgoeus mint green printed notebook which is undated, lined and perfect for drafting ideas. I also got a fun letter set in a gorgeous pastel shade. It came with some gold clamp clips which if you seen my baking tray Diy, these will sit on it perfectly. It also came with the cutest handbag sized mini notebook.

The Whistling Kettle

I was rambling around Aldi recently when as usual I ended up rummaging through the special buy section. I stumbled across this amazing copper whistling kettle. Now, I have no need for a copper whistling kettle but when I seen it sitting in the basket it brought back such fun memories. When I was a kid we had a whistling kettle, I got a sense of nostalgia when I seen this so I just had to have it. It was only €24 and the best thing about it was that it can be used on my induction hob. I thought they only worked on flamed cookers but this one works on my induction hop. It only takes a few minutes to heat up too.

I love the flowers!! They certainly make your house feel like springtime is in full swing. The past few days I feel like I've really got a case of spring fever. But so much longer to wait!

The flowers are quite lovely! I really liked the colors. I myself useflowers too to add some color at home. I often prefer fresh flowers, but faux are lovely too. I have two sets of very gentle, faux peonies, which people often mistake with real ones, they're so well made.
