Turn a wire baking tray into a noticeboard

Today I have a really fun DIY, it is so simple to do that anyone can try it. I was recently at a filming of Showhouse Showdown and in one of the office rooms, there was a gorgeous wire noticeboard with quotes clipped on it. I wondered where they got it from but when I googled I stumbled across a DIY on Pinterest where they sprayed some wire baking trays and hung them as noticeboards. So, I decided to give it a go myself.

The Baking Trays

I got two wire baking trays from Homestore and More in Blanchardstown retail park, they were €5.99 each but I am sure you would be able to get these off Amazon and the likes of Dealz and the Poundshop.

The Spray Paint

I used my trusty Rust-Oleum spray paints. I used the Surface Primer in the shade grey and then I used the shade bright gold as my main colour. I applied one coat of Primer and allowed that to fully dry before applying my gold colour. The reason why I primed was to stop it chipping when placing the clips on the tray. If you do not prime you risk the paint peeling off when pinning your cards to your noticeboard.

I applied one coat of gold then to my trays and allowed them to fully dry before hanging my trays on the wall. I used hardly any paint from my cans, so, you will have plenty left for another DIY. When using aerosol spray paints always use them outside, make sure to use a mask and protect your skin if you have sensitive skin.

Add Your Quote Cards

So, this is where you get to have fun with your noticeboards and add a your own stamp and personality to your piece. I got some fab cards from MossCottage.ie to dress up my noticeboard. I got cards that had colours that complimented my room. My favourite has to be the ” I am not messy, I am creatively organised”.  Have a look on their site for more postcards. You can also try Homesense and Tkmaxx for cute postcards too. You can pop on your to-do list too. I used some pegs I got from the craft shop to pin my cards to my noticeboard. You can use funky claw paper clips too.

I hope you liked today’s DIY, This is something you can do in an afternoon. Please let me know if you give it a try and do tag me on Instagram if you do. I also have a Youtube video too on how I made them. So, please check that out too and don’t forget to subscribe.

Great ideas. Thank you for sharing. I’d love to know how you attached it to the wall though?
