My fave fabric shops.

My go to places.

Earlier this week a lovely lady asked me where I get most of my fabric from. I have a few go to fabric places where I stock up. I am a lover of floral fabric so I am always on the lookout for new stockists to buy from for making my little shabby chic bears.

Fabric can be expensive, especially nice fabric. I get a lot of people asking where to get cheap fabric and they answer is you get what you pay for.  Unfortunately that fab floral shabby chic fabric is hard to come across cheap.

There are tons of fabric places but the ones below are ones I have bought from, I would love to hear your fave places so make sure to leave some more links in the comments section.

Homefocus at Hickeys.

I am always in and out of my local Hickeys, whether its for teddy bear eyes or threads I am always running in on my lunch break. They have curtain fabric and craft fabrics and keep an eye out for when the sale is on and stock up as sometimes they have 20% off.

The crafty fox.

This shop is in Drogheda and although I have never visited it I buy my tilda fabric off them from their website. I met them at the stitching and knitting show back in November and they are a lovely bunch of ladies and often do sewing and craft workshops.

TWI.

Over in Mountjoy square in Dublin TWI are known for having Ireland’s largest collections of fabrics. They also sell machinery so if your looking to upgrade your machine or looking for something then these are the people to go to.

The fabric counter.

Based on Brunswick st in Dublin city this shop has lots of fabrics for upholstery, curtains, dressmaking and crafts.

Some online places I buy from.

Buying fabric online can be difficult, It is hard to see what the true color is and the texture. If unsure maybe request a sample or even buy a 1/4 meter an if your happy then buy more in your next order.

Fabrictime.co.uk

I found these guys when I went to the stitching and knitting show, they have fabrics starting from just £4 a meter. I got a lot of them at the craft show but I have since placed orders with them and they ship to Ireland really quickly.

Myfabrics.co.uk

This site also ships to Ireland and they have more premium fabrics as well and the cheaper craft ones. They also stock Tilda fabric which when the sterling is weak to the euro it works out cheaper to buy from them.

Fabric yard.

For people looking for more funky fabrics then you’ll find something from these guys. They have some fab retro cottons and colourful florals on their site. They are in Northern Ireland so look into doing Parcel motel and shipping it to the uk address and saving on International postage costs.

Ebay

I love ebay for getting my hands on fabrics that may have been discontinued or for getting bargains from people selling some fabrics from their stashes. Just make beware of returns as more than likely you won;t be able to return it.

Cath Kidston outlet.

If you are lucky enough to be near kildare village then raid the Cath Kidston shop for fabric. Most of them are 10-12 euro a meter and really good quality and not thin and flimsy. They also have cute sewing accessories like tins and sewing boxes.

Don’t forget to share your fave fabric places in the comments section below.

Catherine.

Our go to place here is Hobby Lobby, we mainly recover chairs, and benches. We did get some gorgeous fabric on Etsy once. It was so thin, we had to back it with another fabric, but it turned out great. (I'm not really allowed to choose fabric unless it's for one of my toy boxes, lol)

The Fabric outlet on Newbridge. Huge selection all for 4.95 per m. Very heavy upholstery type material, well worth the trip!
