Master bedroom room tour.

Dainty’s boudoir.

Hi everyone, I was having a scrub of upstairs and I said I would share some pictures of my master bedroom. So my house is a dormer bungalow, my upstairs bedroom is the biggest room of the house. When we first moved in I slept downstairs as the room was so big I didn’t know where to start.

All of the furniture is second hand up cycled treasures. I got the bed frame off a local second hand site and gave it a shabby chic makeover. I also mis matched some of the furniture like the bed side lockers, I just painted them in the same color to tie them in together.

I remember going to a furniture shop and seeing the price tag on the shabby chic style furniture and feeling so disheartened. I decided to look online for second hand steals and found some fab pieces with lots of character.

I chose a lot of bright colors as the lighting is quite poor in this room , I am saving up to get an extra window put into this room as I get a lot of light in the rear of the house and this room only has a from bay window.

My neighbour recently added in a window to their room and the difference is huge so I really can’t wait to get one.

Leading into the room I have a small landing area. I used Laura Ashley Lille wallpaper on the top of the stairs and also in the bedroom. I just love finding fun trinkets. The birdcages I stumbled across in a nik nak shop in Dublin and the wire mannequin I got off a lovely chap from adverts.ie

One of my fave pieces in the room is the pink couch, I got this for free from a friend and it was origianly an orange shade, I couldn’t afford to get it re upholstered and it fitted my bay window perfectly so I decided to give it a face lift with some chalk paint and wax. Blondie seems to be the only one who uses it though.

I got the coffee table and monks bench from a house on my mams road that had a skip, I love how my mam was straight into neighbours house keeping me some items from the skip.

To add an ornate look to the furniture I used some mouldings from shabby.ie, they just add so much character to a plain piece of furniture.

I don’t have a TV in the bedroom, I am not a big telly watcher so I just have a fun vintage style radio to listen to before bed.

I absolutely love this vintage Royal Albert telephone, I got this when rummaging through a vintage fair, its a little shabby but I love that, I’m not too sure what year it is from.

I love filling my home with items you can’t get in the shop and that I have a story or an adventure behind how I got them.

My shabby wardrobe.

I got this off a local lady second hand lady, it was already painted in some paint and went chippy over the years, it has an old style key for the top drawer, the lady was using it with shelves for storing blankets and fabric but there is a rail inside it so I decided to use it for storing some dresses.

I got this fab chest of drawers but it was a dark mahogany so to make it match the look I wanted to achieve in my bedroom I gave it a lick of chalk paint, some decoupage and some light sanding to bring out the details on the handles.

I must get back into decoupage as I find it so relaxing.

I hope you loved my bedroom pics, I am hoping to get that extra Velux window before Christmas to flood the room with more lights. I am a creature who needs lots of light, you’ll notice my whole house is very light and airy. When I loved in the home was very dark with pine doors/skirts and magnolia walls and the lighting was very yellow. Gradually over time I have changed all of the rooms to be more lighter and fresher.

I hope to do more room tour posts, let me know what room you would like to see next?

It ALL looks amazing!! It seems like depression would shrivel up and die if it set one foot in there! And dumpster diving is crazy fun!! (It's like a town-wide, free, garage sale) I've been thinking about us refabulizing our laundry room and I'm quite curious about your laundry setup.

Fab…it's so important that your bedroom should be a place of sanctuary a real pretty place to go to….for years mine was neglected, a dumping ground, always the last room to get sorted. Last year I revamped it and haven't looked back. Love spending time in it ❤ pics are fab Catherine.

Hi, I know this is an older post but I have just discovered your blog through instagram and it's fabulous! Your home looks beautiful. Is your bedroom wall paper Lille white from Laura Ashley? If so have you painted your bedroom walls white? I've bought this paper for a feature wall in my living room but the paper looks a bit off white so am not sure what colour to paint the remaining walls x
