IKEA shabby step stool makeover.

Hope your all having a fab weekend!
Today I just want to share some pics of this Ikea stool that I picked up.
As much as I give out about having to go to Ikea they do have fantastic items that you can paint and upcycle.
This was a really quick project and I think it took me longer to assemble than it did to paint.
For anybody going to chalk paint classes this autumn then this would be a great piece to bring.

As usual I got too excited to paint and forgot to take a before pic.
You can find the details for this stool here.
A tip if you are heading to the Dublin store, this is located in aisle 5 location 41 not location 31 that is on the display stool on the showroom.
Which at first I thought it was out of stock but found it when i wandered further down.

Assembly is actually quite simple and if I can do it then so can you!
However it may put you in a bad mood and your kitchen may look like a bomb just went off if your anything like me.

I used Autentico in the shade frozen fountain. I am still using the same liter pot of paint that I used on the upvc door and on my toilet door.
For anyone who missed it you can find my tutorial on painting upvc here.
This shade gives great coverage so you use less so the tin is lasting me forever!!.

I just gave two light coats of paint and got the coverage I wanted.
You could get really crafty and do decoupage or effects with colored waxes but as this was for displaying items I went with a block color.

For me I wanted the step stool for display, I think it would be so pretty dressed up for a wedding or a tea party. You can see from the pic below that its really handy and folds and comes with a clip so it can be hung on the wall.

I wanted it to display my frames as they were piling up in the kitchen and wanted them to look pretty for when people dropped by to collect them.
This little ladder would be gorgeous for displaying at a market for any of my fellow crafter's.
It would look very cute with some cupcake stands on it.

Let me know what you think and if you have gotten creative with any of your Ikea finds.

Powerscourt estate and gardens

My ramble around the Powerscourt gardens.

Hiya, today the sun made a rare appearance and we jumped on the chance for an adventure, I am just obsessed with visiting gardens and pretty grounds so myself, baby Jack and his Mammy Chloe set off on an adventure around the Powerscourt gardens.
I took plenty of pics so have a little peep below and let me know which one was your fave.

Children under 5 go free however some parts of the trail are not buggy friendly and a little steep so bear that in mind if you have little legs with you that might need a jockey back up the hill.

Next time we go we will definitely take a picnic, there was gorgeous green areas to sit and have some lunch in the fabulous surroundings.
There is an Avoca shop and cafe in the building were you can have tea in the cafe or buy lots of goodies in the shop.
The dolls museum is also upstairs in the main building however we couldn't find a lift so I didn't find the main building buggy friendly.

You can also visit the waterfall further up the road, that will be next on my visit list as we were worn out from just doing the gardens themselves, you really could spend a weekend exploring this place its amazing.

I treated myself to a new plant too from the garden center, this is a gorgeous garden shop with lots of shabby chic decor items and plenty of plants too, I picked up a peachy pink Lupin for the flower bed, I make sure to put up a pick on my Instagram once I have it planted.

The gardens open from 9:30am until 5pm, although there was buses of tourists the gardens didn't feel over crowded at all and it was so peaceful and beautiful to just walk around and take in the scenery.

Let me know your fave places to visit on your day off!
