#2015bestnine the best of 2015

Hi everyone.
So with everyone sharing the #2015bestnine over on Instagram it motivated me to share some of my top posts for you from this year.
There was a lot of upcycle projects this year in the home with me getting my master bedroom done and my stairs done also, some fab chair make overs and a few guilt free home ware hauls. As usual a few tea dress fashion posts snuck in so here I will share my fave posts with the links to the full posts.

1. My painted fabric chair.

So this little upcycle was done back in June, this was my first attempt of painting fabric and it was on a chair I had got for free that was heading to the skip so I had nothing to lose and gained a lovely pink chair and saved a fortune compared to reupholstering.

2. My upvc painted door.

This was another really popular post as it was a little tutorial on painting upvc which is something not a lot of people would of known that you can do.

3. Dresses.ie wedding guest style.

So this post was special to me as it got shared by dresses.ie, they had kindly invited me to my first ever "blogger" event and were so kind and nice to me and boosted my confidence in my ability to blog, I wore this dress in October to a wedding in Belingham castle.

4. One fab day vintage wedding fair.

Now I know I have to ring on my left pinky but that still doesn't stop me creeping on wedding fairs, this one was amazing for inspiration and I go to meet the fab Miss Hippenings Laura Cunningham and my fave Moss Cottage.

5. Floating tea cup tutorial.

This is another fave crafty make. This was a really popular post with the wedding DIY ladies.  I had the pleasure of making these for a lady I work with, I do get people asking me if I make them to sell but unfortunately at the moment I can't source teacups cheap enough to make.

6. My retro shoot with boudoir girls.

This was a collaboration with the stunning Natalie from Boudoir girls in Galway. I'm far from a model and she made me feel like a 1950's house wife in this shoot and the gorgeous Danielle Mahon done my make up for this shoot.

7. My upcycled fireplace.

This was an upcycle from the start of the year and something I had been wanting to do for ages. Completely transformed my living room and I haven't looked back.

8. Tesco living homeware haul.

Sharing my home ware hauls was really popular this year and any excuse for me to keep shopping, there comes a time in your life when all that excites you is nice fancy home ware nik naks.

9. My upcycled vintage chair.

Anybody who knows me knows I love a good up cycled chair. This was one I done up to match in with my master bedroom and is the same shade as the painted fabric chair.

Another highlight (well I wouldn't call it a highlight) was getting my surgery on my thumb in August. That slowed me down with the crafting but didn't stop me posing.
This was quickly mended and I am pleased to say my thumb is fixed and I am back crafting up a storm.

What has been your highlights from 2015?
Please share your fave posts and links to your blog/instagram in the comments section below.

See you all in 2016!
Love Catherine.

Kinvara skincare review.

Kinvara skincare.

Hi guys, some of you might remember me picking up these Kinvara goodies at the craft and design fair in the Rds earlier on this month. I have been using them the last month and want to share a mini review on the products.

Now I know I am not a beauty blogger but what I loved the most about this brand was that it was an Irish business and I love to support local Irish brands as much as possible. What caught my eye (or nose should I say) was the smell of both the cleansing oil and serum as they smelt like a day at the spa, smelt delicious just like when you get a facial.

Happy Christmas

My Christmas message.

I just want to wish everyone a happy Christmas and want to wish everyone all the best for the new year. Christmas can be a hard time for many so take time for yourself and enjoy the time spent with friends and family.

I love this time of year, not just for the sparkly lights but love that a new year and fresh start is around the corner, a time to reflect on achievements from this year and set new goals to grow in the next year.

So don't feel bad when you see the all the insta posts of people sharing their latest Michael Kors and fancy gifts and diamond rings, this isn't what Christmas should be about,

One of the highlights of this Christmas is the sentimental teddy bears I have been making for people as a lot are being received today as presents and I get such a rewarding warm feeling  knowing that people will get so much comfort from them.

So myself and Blondie want to say thank you and wish you a merry Christmas and here is to an amazing new year.

Dainty's December diary X

Hi everyone,

So apologies for being a bit quiet on the blogging front but I have been kept super busy with orders for frames and teddy bears an even a few painting projects.

I have just finished up in sewing class too but I will be starting back in the spring, I recently painted a chair for the lovely Katrina for her salon K2 in Glasnevin which was really fun as I haven't painted much since my thumb operation earlier this year.

I also had a wander around the RDS national craft and design fair and I would love to next year make it my goal to do at least one small craft fair and sell some of my crafty frames and bears.

Also in work December is my busiest month so I have found it hard this month to stay consistent with blog posts so keep and eye on my Instagram (@daintydressdiaries) and my Snapchat (daintydiaries) for more daily updates.

Hope your all keeping well. Chat soon, Catherine.

My budget DIY shabby bathroom makeover.

Hi everyone.

Today I just want to share my little budget face lift that I gave my en suite bathroom.
Bathrooms can be so expensive and I am saving up for a new shower and tiles but it is going to take me a good while to save up so to take the plain boring look off my bathroom that is beside my master bedroom I decided to give it a quick makeover.

Now a little disclaimer on wallpaper before I start, It is not recommended to have wallpaper in bathrooms as the steam can make it peel and possibly go moldy.
We only use the toilet and sink in this en suite so I decided to do two feature walls however when I get a new shower  and we use this room more then I will remove it.
That is why I went with a budget 6 euro roll from B&Q and not an expensive roll.

I have loads of pics below and the details on all the trinkets too.

Dainty vintage style skirt.

Hi everyone,
The lovely ladies over at Carousel sent me this adorable skirt and I just wanted to share the link the the skirt as a lot of you loved it when I posted it earlier on Instagram.
You will be pleased to know its a steal at 49 euro and its a really good quality heavier fabric and holds its lovely vintage style shape.
I am wearing a size 8 but I am wearing it high on my waist so if you want it to sit lower then maybe go up a size.
I wore this today to the blogger conference in the Marker hotel and felt really glam in it and teamed it with a red lip and long sleeve top.
My long sleeve top is actually from the kids section in Dunnes Stores as the one in Dorothy Perkins didn't fit me in the arms, the perks of being little, you get to shop in the kids section and get bargains.

So you can find this dress here. For those of you who don't know Carousel they are a vintage style store located on Exchequer st in Dublin, they stock a mix of brands and even my faves Closet London.
I always try and pop in when I am in town as you wont find these vintage style dresses in other shop sin Dublin.
Let me know if you too pick up the skirt or any other cute tea dresses from the girls in Carousel. Don't forget to use the hashtag #carouselfie if you are sharing on twitter and Instagram.

The knitting and stitching show 2015

So this is a post for my crafty ladies who love to sew and knit.

Today I went out to the RDS Simmonscourt to the stitching and knitting show and if you are looking for something fun to do this weekend then I highly recommend it.

There was so many amazing stalls and great deals on fabric and wool.
I also attended a workshop too which I have gone into more detail below.

Mini November homeware haul

Hi everyone.
I have a little mini haul of some fab shabby chic style home ware and most are under twenty euro so their is a guilt free bargain for everyone.
All the prices and links are under the pictures below.

The adorable mirror above was 19.99 and was from TK Maxx in Blanchardstown.

I adore the Cath Kidston mugs and these I got also from TK Maxx and they were 6.99 and 8.9 for the larger mug, now if you are heading to the outlet in Kildare village you can ger these slightly cheaper at 8 euro for two mugs in a set.

The teacup canvas is my absolute fave and its a steal at 6 euro. Its from Dunnes stores and I have a link to buy it online here.

The adorable light up sign is from Pennies and perfect for the brides to be, I am going to make some sparkly letters to sit with this light on a shelf.

I am a sucker for little signs and loved the phrase on this one, this is from Homebase and was 7 euro.

This adorable nest sign is from my fave Moss cottage, you can find this sign and more amazingness on the site moss.ie

If you follow me on snapchat you would of seen this Laura Ashley bucket that I picked up in the sale, they also have larger ones, I originally was using mine for holding my washing up liquid at the sink but decided it was too cute for that so put jars inside and flowers. My bucket was on sale at 20.99 but this was with an extra 10% off which this offer may have ended.

My fave is this little sparkly house from next, I couldn't find the item on their website but keep an eye on this link here.
In the store it was merchandised with the Christmas decorations but I have mine on the mantle piece and using it now as its too cute and pretty to keep as a Christmas decoration.

Let me know what our home ware bargains were and leave any links in the comment section below.

Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a fab Halloween and I wish you all a fab November.
Today I want to share my fave interior and shabby chic style accounts on Instagram.
If like me you love to find new inspiration and accounts to follow then I recommend these adorable accounts.

What I love about the accounts below is that they reply and chat to your comments and it feels like a little insta community.
I hate when an account doesn't interact with its followers and I love making new insta buddies so these are my current faves.

@sevimliseylerduragi is a great page for finding new shabby chic style accounts to follow as they share a lot of peoples pictures so I find this one great for seeing inspo from accounts you would never of stumbled across.

@siren I adore Helen and her house is stunning, her interior style is more french luxury and lots of inspiring pics, she recently made it to 10k followers and she still takes the time to reply to comments and interact which is what I love, a really lovely genuine lady.

@dropsomesparkle is a little dolly, her interior is adorable but what I love the most is her fashion posts, really pretty, feminine and classy. I just adore her tulle skirts and again like @siren she is really lovely and interacts lots with her followers.

@little_paddock_cottage I just want to sell up and move to the country when I see her stunning home. Adorable cottage style inspiration, this account gives me so much inspiration as I love the country cottage style decor. A really pretty account.

@markmeredith_87 my fave shabby man, His home is just stunning and like Helen's account he is more french cottage style, his home looks like a something from the south of France and he is so lovely and always chats and interacts with his followers, he is also nearly to 10k so give him a little follow to help him get there.

@moss_cottage for my local ladies this is the account from the moss cottage shop that is in Dundrum, Jen has an adorable account and I love the chalk paint transformations she shares. I am determined to visit her pretty shop before Christmas, I recently met Jen in person at the One fab day event and she is so lovely and bubbly.

@ruadublin is the shop that is located on Capel st in Dublin and I highly recommend you visit if you are in Dublin as it is nik nak heaven, loads of quirky gifts and accessories and they also stock Annie Sloan paint and hold classes too, I love when she shares pics of her new windows and transformation projects.

@desenim_ is similar to @sevimliseylerduragi and re posts and shares pics from other shabby chic accounts, I find this great for interacting with other accounts and finding lots of inspiration, this account is like Pinterest on Instagram.

What I have been up to.

Hi everyone,
So this week I have been busy and have not had much of a chance to blog so I thought I would share what is keeping me busy,
First of all the day job is keeping me very busy, working full time is hard and trying to fit in my crafts.
I am back in sewing class on Monday evenings and I am loving them, learning lots of new things and makes for the home.

This little chap above is my first attempt at making a bear, my teacher brought these in to show us and I just had to make one, I am going to practice and make another in some shabby chic fabric.

I also made a cute sock and have had a lot of people asking if I will be selling them but unfortunately I wont be making them to sell as I have been kept so busy making the personalised frames below.

I love making the personalised frames and love seeing people reaction to them and getting their feedback. These are available in the Etsy shop or you can send me an email in the contact link above.

As always you can find me over on Instagram @daintydressdiaries and on snapchat @daintydiaries. I might not be able to post as much on the blog but you can still find me over there where I try and post daily.

Let me know what your doing to keep yourself busy in the Winter and don't forget to leave your blog link in the comments section below.
