Transitional Autumn dresses

August dress picks

If you have been in the shops recently you would have noticed that it is starting to look a lot like Autumn and so is the Irish weather. I hate wasting the Summer away but if you are going to be buying something new in the next few weeks you are going to want to buy pieces that will take you all the way through Autumn. I am choosing to pick warmer tones over the pastels shades when it comes to buying something new for the wardrobe. I am also starting to struggle in the mornings when deciding what to wear. I find I layer up in the morning and come lunch time I am stripping off.

I have my pic's of my fave transitional dresses to share today. These dresses are perfect to wear now with bare legs and sandals but they are also perfect to wear in a few weeks when you need to layer up with tights and ankle boots, giving you more value for your money. You will probably notice a theme with the floral prints. I do adore a floral print but I have picked some pieces that are still pretty, feminine and floral but they are perfect for the changing season.

As I am writing this it is half 9 in the evening and it is starting to get dark, a sign that Summer is starting to leave. I adore Summer, I will be a Spring and Summer baby at heart. I hate to see it leave but I do love the changing of the seasons and I welcome Autumn. I do love August and September as it is still warm enough to have bare legs, we also get some nice sunny days too! but the evenings start to get a little cosier and the Autumn flowers start to appear. I love seeing the Ivy change colour when I am out on my walks. The colours of nature inspire my Autumn wardrobe, I like to pick Berry and warm tones. I love florals too but I choose pieces with a warmer colour that will be perfect to wear with tights and ankle boots in the months to come.

All you need is a few new pieces to update your current wardrobe. You can still wear your fave Sundresses throughout August and September but on the days where the weather is less Mediterranean and more Baltic then wear your new Autumnmal pieces.  I find denim is great for all seasons, so, pull out old them old denim dresses that might be in your wardrobe and team them with tan sandals on the sunny days and ankle boots on the cooler days.

I hope you enjoyed today's post, It can be an awkward time when the seasons change and we are stuck in wardrobe limbo but have fun re styling old pieces and treating yourself to some new ones too.

  3. No problem. Wanted to say thanks for always being so honest and as positive as you are on Snapchat. You always talk sense and you've inspired me to upcycle a piece of furniture! Have the chalk paint ready and going to do some decoupage. Also love your style. Keep doing what you're doing!
