My new trunk luggage

Old school steamer trunk luggage

This week I treated myself to some new luggage as a little treat for my upcoming New york trip. I am starting to get really nervous and excited for the trip. If you follow me on Snapchat you will know I recently tried a few Aldi shops trying to get their cabin luggage last week that was similar to the Ted Baker luggage. I wasn’t able to get my hands on their cabin bag but I got these instead which I think they suit me better.

Steamer trunk

Steamer trunks are named after their location of storage in the cabin of steam ships. I have come across some older styles of these in antique shops and I have seen them being up-cycled and used in the home as decor. I was delighted when I found a company who sold them as cabin bags for modern day travel. I have seen a few companies selling these style cases and the prices range and some can be super expensive. I was thrilled when I found a company who was selling them in my budget.

I bought mine off londontrunkcompany.com. The cabin case and matching handbag-style case were £125.

The cabin trunk comes with four wheels that swivel. My last cabin case was 11 years old! It has travelled many places and was worn out. One of the things that bugged me about it was the wheels. It only had two wheels and I would always bash people’s legs as I tried to wheel it straight. This has the four wheels that move around so I can wheel it beside me neatly.

The inside of the trunks are lined in pink a fabric and there are zippers and removable flap for the top. The cases are made of a hardened plastic and come with old school number combinations locks. I haven’t set my locks yet as I am afraid I will forget the numbers I pick.

Is it Ryanair cabin size?

I travel a lot with cabin luggage and rarely check in a bag. I will also be travelling to New York with cabin luggage so space is important for me. You can find Ryanair’s cabin dimensions here. The dimensions of this case including the wheels and handle are 61cm in height. However, the cabin size is 49cm in height. It is a few cm in height over however it is smaller in width and depth. Just bear this in mind before purchasing. Also, keep in mind of weight restrictions of your cabin bag when travelling and do not exceed the recommended weight of your airline.

I will be travelling in three weeks and I will be using it as cabin luggage so I will update this post and let you know if I have any issues with using it as cabin size. I tend to travel light and try and pack as little as possible as I learned that throughout the years I would bring everything and the kitchen sink in my case only to realise I never wore or used what I brought.

Mini box trunk

I chose to buy the set as the mini handbag style trunk is just too cute. This will double up as my handbag for my trip as it matches my tea dresses perfectly. It comes with a long extendable strap which is perfect for me especially in the airport as I am always paranoid about leaving my handbag behind.

My dress is from Dorothy Perkins and you can find it here.

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading. I will update this post once I have travelled and let you know how I get on with my luggage and how they wear over time.

Chat soon,

Catherine.

Traveling this week as well. I bought new cases in recent years but none so cute as yours! They'd make marvelous decorations as well! Being in the US, I am becoming familiar with so many new stores by keeping up with YouTubers from the U.K.. I love Dorothy Perkins and want to order everything I see! Happy Easter, Miss Dainty Catherine!!

Great one..Currently, the best vintage luggage is the Diane Von Furstenberg Saluti. Wiki researchers have been writing reviews of the latest vintage luggage sets since 2016.click here

I just found your channel on youtube and I absolutely love your Dainty style! I HAD to comment as I have that exact dress from a DP in Malaysia if you can believe it. I love that everyone thinks it's Kate Spade 😉
