My perfectly imperfect pigmentation

Hi everyone.

Today I am sharing a more personal post about my makeup routine and how I cover my large areas of discolouration and hyper pigmentation.

What motivated me to go bare faced was this picture I posted on Instagram.

I got over a hundred likes and lots of really nice comments but I after I took my war paint off, well I felt a little like a fraud.

I am not a make up artist or a beauty blogger but I have perfected my own art if how I conceal my flaws.

I want to show that we are not all as perfect as our Instagram photos and I hope this post helps anyone who is insecure about their flaws.

These techniques can be used for covering scars, dark cyrcles and birth marks.

What is Pigmentation? Hyperpigmentation is basically a darkening of an area of skin caused by the overproduction of a pigment in the skin known as melanin. It is relatively common and usually harmless, but for cosmetic reasons, it is a nuisance to those who have it.

I don’t do sun beds and I only tan when I am away on holidays.

I first noticed this on my face when I was around 20 and it was after a sun holiday.

Over the last few years it has gotten larger and I have noticed it in different parts if my face.

It also goes darker in summer.

I use a factor 50 sun cream everyday under my make up to prevent it from growing larger and darker.

Let’s get started!

Foundation.

Rimmel London lasting finish foundation in shade 200.

I use a real techniques brush to blend this all over my face.

This foundation alone won’t cover areas of darkenes but it will give you the perfect base for the rest of your skin.

Dermablend foundation in shade nude.

I only apply this to the areas of pigmentation around my eyes and temples and blend this outwards.

His does a fab job at blurring the imperfections and highly reccomend this foundation for acne, scarring, dark cyrcles and pigmentation.

Dermablend concealer stick in shade nude. I apply this to the really dark areas for extra coverage.

There is also a really good cheaper alternative to this camouflage concealer and it is by catrice.

Highlight and contour!

My fave bit.

This brings my face alive and stops foundation looking like a mask.

I would be lost without my sleek contour kit in shade light.

I use the bronzer on temples and under cheekbones and a little of forehead.

I highlight on toos of cheeks and on my areas of pigmentation as it bounces the light away.

I also use the blush too as it’s really nice on my skin tone. Sometimes with palettes you might not use all of the items but with this one I do.

And now for the peepers!

So for the eys I use a loreal brow pencil if shape and colour in my brows as I love a strong brow.

I use loreal lash extension on lashes and I use the waterproof one.

If you find it hard to get off waterproof mascara use baby oil. This lifts it straight off and is cheaper than eye make up removers.

I apply about 2/3 layers of mascara.

I love a white eyeliner to brighten your eyes and the one I’m using is a cheap and cheerful one from wet n wild.

So now for the finished look.

I hope this post has helped.

As insecure as I am about what’s under my make up I wanted to share my tips with you.

Please leave any comments if you to have the same issue and if you have any tips to share.

Hiya! Thanks so much for your kind comment. If you pick up a brush I would love to see your upcycle projects so don't forget to tag me. The pencil was a medium shade. I'm currently using a Rimmel one in a medium shade too x
